Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) for Linux and Parallels Server Bare Metal use the vzup2date tool to install various types of updates.
For kernel updates (CU), userspace tools updates (TU), and vzup2date self-updates (SU):
To update 'vzup2date' utility:
~# vzup2date -s -m batch install --self-update
The complete command to install all available updates and configure boot loader:
~# vzup2date -s -m batch install --self-update --tools --core --loader-autoconfig
To check the list of available updates the following command can be used:
~# vzup2date -m batch list
On PVC 4.0 and 3.0, this command will update PIM as well. On newer versions, PVA Agent is updated separately.
For EZ template installation and updates:
~# vzup2date -z
For STD template installation and updates:
~# vzup2date -t

Minor system updates can be installed using native package managers (yum, up2date, etc.), excluding kernel* and all dependent packages.
NOTE: Major system upgrades are strongly discouraged!
